Wells Fargo Dedicates Historical Mural At UCI Paul Merage School Of Business

Mural honors opening of new business school building; celebrates shared heritage

August 25, 2016

Irvine, CA August 25, 2016 – The UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business and Wells Fargo unveiled a historical mural at the UCI Paul Merage School of Business to honor the opening of the new Merage School building. The mural was commissioned to illustrate the shared heritage of the UCI Paul Merage School of Business and Wells Fargo in Orange County.

“Wells Fargo is a proud longtime partner of UCI’s Paul Merage School. They continue to provide our company with high-caliber talent by preparing their MBA and undergraduate students to take on the challenges of today’s business world,” said Wells Fargo Southern California Regional President Ben Alvarado. “In addition, their outreach programs, speaking events and roundtables are a tremendous benefit to our company. Through our collaboration we are able to connect with many of today’s top business leaders and help shape the leaders of tomorrow.”

The mural was developed through a collaboration between the Wells Fargo Community Mural Program and the Merage School. Designed to inspire conversation and provide a backdrop for student activities, the mural is located in main lobby of the new Merage School building dining area, where hundreds of students gather each day to work, collaborate and socialize. Alongside the mural is a legend which shares the stories behind each of the images featured in the design. Focusing on the recently opened new business school building, the design weaves together the historic bicycle survey of the Irvine Ranch with images of students, professors and campus activities ranging from the 1900s to present. Historical Wells Fargo documents provide additional points of interest highlighting the company’s own unique history which dates back to 1852. Beginning during the time of the Gold Rush, Wells Fargo earned a reputation of trust by dealing rapidly and responsibly with people’s money and goods, offering both banking and express delivery.
